DALLAS (Oct. 13, 2003) - Ahmed and Mohamed Ibrahim, 28 month old conjoined twins, were successfully separated on Sunday, Oct. 12, 2003 following more than 24 hours of neurosurgery and several more hours of reconstructive surgery. The surgery, which took place at Children's Medical Center Dallas, was performed by a team of craniofacial surgeons from Medical City Dallas Hospital and neurosurgeons from Children's Medical Center. They are being cared for during the acute post-operative phase of their recovery in the pediatric intensive care unit at Children's Medical Center, and will be transferred back to Medical City for long-term recovery and rehabilitation therapy in the North Texas Hospital for Children at Medical City.
