A member of the National Association of Epilepsy Centers, the Center for Epilepsy is one of the few programs in North Texas that treat both adult and pediatric patients who have uncontrolled seizures and complex neurological disorders. We boast nationally recognized epileptologists, neurologists and neurosurgeons, board-certified electroneurodiagnostic technologists and one of the lowest nurse-to-patient ratios in the country. As part of our approach, we involve a team of specialists, including psychologists, neuroradiologists, and licensed medical social workers, to discuss and evaluate patient treatment options.

At Medical City, those options address a broad spectrum. Our physicians are experts in anti-epileptic medications, vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) and neurosurgery. And our facilities are state-of-the art. Patients who require surgery or other overnight care stay in private rooms designed to make them feel right at home with TVs, closet space and private bathrooms. Family members and loved ones are welcome to stay as well.

Of course, fellow patients can be just as important to recovery as our top-notch physicians, nurses, staff and facilities. Much as the nervous system helps the mind communicate with the body, our monthly support groups help patients and their families communicate with others challenged by epilepsy. At these invaluable meetings, members exchange wisdom about seizures, new life skills and—most important—emotional support.

Epilepsy is a complex and debilitating disease. Seizures may try to take control of a person’s body, but at the Epilepsy Center at Medical City, we’re proving they don’t have to take control of a person’s life.
